Wowza ClearCaster Streams 1080p to Facebook Live

Wowza ClearCaster is a $6,000 encoder from Wowza, that at first glance may cause you to repeat the company’s name loudly, as in, “Wowza, that’s a high price for a single channel streaming appliance.” Perhaps so, but it’s the only encoder that can stream 1080p to Facebook Live, and as I learned when I reviewed the product, it has great usability and redundancy features. It’s also 4K capable and will support both VP9 and HEVC once Facebook can ingest these formats.

The bottom line is that many brands and organizations have multiple times the $6,000 price tag at stake during a live event, and in these cases, Clearcaster is worth the price. If you’re interested, here are two resources available on the Streaming Media website.

1.My review – “If you absolutely, positively have to stream a successful live event on Facebook Live, ClearCaster is very definitely worth a very hard look.”

Here’s the video I produced while testing the product.

2.  My interview with the product manager, performed on Facebook live with Clearcaster, of course. This article contains the video and a transcription, or you can watch the video below.

Enjoy!
