Cracking the Code(c): It’s All About the Implementation

Free Webinar: Cracking the Code(c): It’s All About the Implementation
January 30, 2025 – 16:00 GMT/11:00 EST/08:00 PST

Last fall, I published a post called “There Are No Codec Comparisons. There Are Only Codec Implementation Comparisons.” The basic premise was stated in the conclusion, which reads, “the key point is that unless the study’s testing schema and codec selection aligns perfectly with yours, the results aren’t likely to accurately predict the actual savings any new codec will deliver. It’s highly unlikely that any single codec comparison will be relevant to your scenario.”

My friends at Norsk thought this concept would make a great topic for a webinar, which we’ve scheduled for the date and time listed above. Norsk CMO Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen will MC the webinar, and I’ll be joined by Norsk CEO/co-founder Adrian Roe to dig deep into the following topics:

• The deployability of AV1, HEVC, H.264 and VVC
• How different codec implementations and encoding settings impact your output
• What to look for when evaluating a codec/codec implementation
• Recommendations on how to achieve the perfect quality/bandwidth balance
