Video on Best Practices for Delivering Live Video to Geographically Distributed Viewers

In this interview with Evelyne Kuo from BaishanCloud, we discussed technologies involved with distributing live streams to viewers across multiple geographic regions. The conversation included hardware HEVC encoders, QoS, QoE, using different encoding ladders for different content and potentially different regions, and considerations for choosing a CDN (get one that’s strong in each region you’re targeting).

Here’s the recorded video. On a completely different note, both Evelyne and I used DSLRs instead of webcams for the interview (Sony a6500/a6300 respectively) and I think the visual quality is outstanding (though I wish I was a bit brighter in the video). I probably will use the a6300 for all high-profile interviews going forwards.

FYI: BaishanCloud is the world’s leading edge-cloud platform service provider offering neutral infrastructure, cloud-native security, developer engines, and other products and services.
