Telestream Includes x.264 in Free Episode 6.4 Update

episode.pngIn an uncharacteristically quiet release, Telestream launched Episode 6.4, a free upgrade that includes x264 encoding for all versions. This is essentially a price reduction of around $89 (B&H was still selling the x264 option when I wrote this post). Here’s a snippet from the Product Sheet:

From my perspective, incorporating x.264 into the program is a good move; it’s the go to H.264 codec for most compressionists, and I’m sure having to pay extra stuck in the craw of many buyers. At $594, it also brings the base version of Episode to closer parity with the base version of Sorenson Squeeze ($549).
