HP EliteBook 8760w: A Notebook for Demanding Video Producers

elitebook2.jpgFew things in life are more fun than playing with the latest, greatest notebook computer. For the last few months, I’ve had the pleasure of working with HP’s EliteBook 8760w, which is the most powerful notebook I’ve ever tested. It’s a highly potent combination of Intel i7 CPU, NVIDIA 5010M GPU and an appropriately named DreamColor display.

You can read about editing performance in this article on the Streaming Learning Center web site. What’s new is a review in Streaming Media Magazine that provides a more general description and some encoding and live streaming performance benchmarks.

I’ve been testing desktop computers and notebooks for a long time. I’ve never worked with a notebook that could compete with a desktop unit as effectively as the 8760w. It’s not cheap, but if you need desktop performance in a mobile form factor, you should check it out.
