Fun, Fun, Fun at StreamingMedia West

At StreamingMedia West in San Jose where I debuted my new blonde ‘do to the adoring (OK, skeptical) crowd. That’s Tim Siglin on the left, Eric Schumacher-Rasmussen on the right and blondie in the middle.

I started the show with a session entitled Producing H.264 for Streaming and Progressive Download (3 hours), and host an hour-long session today on Improving Your Video Quality. I’ve already posted the H.264 handouts for downloading on the streaminglearningcenter site – lots of good stuff in their comparing the Apple, Dicas and Main Concept codecs, and descriptions of common H.264 encoding parameters like Profiles, Levels and the like. I’ll post the PDF from the session today as well.

The hottest topics I’m encountering are HTTP streaming and adaptive bitrate streaming. I wrote a piece on how H.264 Streaming Video Coding could make a big mark in that market here.
