Streaming Media 101: “I was Amazed at How Much I Learned”

A recent review from The Ohio State University’s Derrick Freeman highlighted what he learned from Streaming Media 101. Below is his review, which I’ve chopped up into bullet points.

“I just recently earned my certificate from Jan Ozer’s “Streaming Media 101: Technical Onboarding for Streaming Media Professionals” e-learning course at Streaming Learning Center. I was amazed at how much I learned.

    • Before the course I was not familiar with video quality metrics and many other items. Now, I’m comfortable using Moscow State University’s Video Quality Measurement Tool to run metrics for PSNR, VMAF, and SSIMPLUS.
    • I also appreciated the deep dive on video codecs, the codec update for 2023, and the latest research on FFmpeg options for encoding to VP9, AV1, HEVC.
    • I also liked all the tools and metrics taught in the course. Some of my favorite modules were the ones teaching on dynamic packaging, DRM, per-title encoding, and CMAF.

This is an outstanding course with 144 lessons and is perfect for those new to streaming media and video encoding as well as those with a lot of experience. I especially recommend this course for those companies in need of streaming media onboarding for their organization.”

Thanks Derrick. Here’s a link to the course which costs $299.95.
