Details Regarding Per-Title Bakeoff at Streaming Media East

I know time is short, but I’ve gotten in touch with most vendors that offer this feature and am posting this (and using social media) so the word is out. Anyone who wants to participate, there’s still time.

Here’s the description of the session:

T203. HOW-TO: Comparing Per-Title Encoding Options

Wednesday, May 9: 1:45 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.

Per-title encoding techniques customize the encoding ladder to match the encoding complexity of the source, saving bandwidth on easy-to compress videos and ensuring the quality of more complex footage. Codec specialist Jan Ozer compares the efficiency, implementation issues, and costs of multiple commercially available and open-source alternatives, like Capella Systems Cambria Encoder, compression optimization from multiple vendors, and the alternatives available using FFmpeg. Learn what per-title encoding is, how the various options work, and which is the best option for you.

Speaker:Jan Ozer, Principal, Streaming Learning Center and Contributing Editor, Streaming Media

If you’d like to submit content for evaluation, download the invite and rules below. Also posted is a spreadsheet that shows scoring and last years presentation.

I would need your files no later than Friday, May 4 by close of business. If you’re in production with per-title, that shouldn’t be a problem, it’s about 30 minutes of 1080p videos encoded twice. If you have any questions, please contact me at [email protected] Thanks!
