The course teaches the technology and market knowledge necessary to effectively market and sell streaming-related products and services
Just a brief note to announce the Streaming Learning Center’s newest course, Streaming Media 101: for Sales and Marketing Professionals. The course provides the technology and market knowledge necessary for new marketing and sales hires to effectively market and sell streaming-related products and services. The course is available now and costs $149.95.
Two factors drove the creation of this course. First, several large customers of Streaming Media 101: Technical Onboarding for Streaming Media Professionals appreciated the content but felt it was too technical (and too expensive) for marketing and sales folks new to streaming media.
Second, having worked in marketing and sales in the past and present, I know that industry knowledge is critical to success in both roles. You don’t speak the same language as your prospects without it and you certainly can’t understand their key concerns and buying criteria. Spending four hours of time and $150 seems like an efficient and affordable way to acquire that knowledge.
The course includes about 45 high-level lessons, including instruction on:
- An overview of VOD and live workflows and industry players and ecosystems.
- What codecs and encoders are and what they do.
- Encoding basics like resolution, frame rate, and bitrate control techniques.
- The difference between standards-based and open-source codecs and the identity and key differentiators of key codecs from both sources.
- What adaptive bitrate technologies are, how they work, and high-level USPs of HLS, DASH, and CMAF.
- Key streaming technologies like DRM, QoE, QoS, and Low-Latency streaming, and critical services like CDNs.
- How to install and use MediaInfo and Bitrate Viewer (MP4 Bitrate Viewer on the Mac).
This provides a solid foundation for the product or service-specific training that most companies provide.
The course includes 24 quizzes and a certificate of completion. Click here for more information, or contact me at [email protected] with any questions or comments.
