I’m allergic to command-line encoders like FFmpeg, so the Streaming Learning Center blog has very little to offer folks using this encoder when it comes to techniques and command line arguments. I just learned about a new blog entitled ReneVolution which is highly focused on FFmpeg; the link will take you to a post on FFmpeg 2.0 which shipped in July.
The blog was created and is maintained by René Calles, “an experienced video encoding and streaming engineer and passionate developer.” Rene works for Geißendörfer & Leschinsky, a German system vendor for streaming, software development and Internet services, so I’m sure he knows his stuff. If you’ve read this far, you deserve one more good reference. One of the most experienced and impressive compressionists out there, Fabio Sonnati, has devoted significant time to documenting FFmpeg, which you can read about here.
